In the territory there are several communities with well-defined identity features; its antecedents go back more than six thousand years.

Archaeological studies place in this period the colonization of Cuba by immigrants from South America in a general sense and the current area of ​​the municipality in a particular sense, so that the fact can be considered as one of the first antecedents of local culture.

Since then, a series of elements that lead to the forging of local culture begin to settle, traces that cover all the dimensions of culture, highlighting aspects that transcend at the national and universal level, such as the cases of history, the crafts, parties, agriculture, animal husbandry, education, culinary arts.

Preserving, promoting and developing the best values ​​of the local culture is one of the main aspirations of the niceteros and their social groups, for which there is a whole system of state and non-governmental institutions in charge of this task, in which they play a role. rector the Municipal Directorate of Culture with its institutions that cover the entire society of the territory.

The institutional system of culture is structured by a Municipal Directorate, in charge of coordinating all the work carried out in the municipality in order to comply with the principles of Cuban cultural policy, as well as managing the cultural promotion work that is carried out in the system of institutions made up of the following institutions:

• Municipal Film Directorate, consisting of four video rooms and four 135-mm film projection equipment.
• The Municipal House of Culture, made up of the Brigade of Art Instructor Teachers for the 20th Anniversary and the Casimba House of Culture.
• The Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda Municipal Public Library.
• The Ángel Hardy Rivera Historical Museum.
